19: Zola Jesus - Stridulum II

Goth's back, but not as we know it. Ms. Jesus unwittingly brought back a trend that had been (purposefully) forgotten. However, she made it cool by making one of the albums of the year and not making really gothic music. Her songs were about love, and darkness, rather than destruction of so-ci-ety, social awkwardness, and darkness. And, you know what, I prefer that side of Goth. She made it relatable for people with no foibles.

Key Tracks: I Can't Stand, Night, Sea Talk
